Christmas 2006
Here we are already. New Years eve & I'm finally starting to feel a little more human. I was struck down with a nasty cold on Boxing Day & haven't felt up to anything but reading, playing on the computer & sudoku's since then. Meg's been checking up as we'd hoped to get some games in this week (bummer!!) & Roly & Cissy have been lovely, bringing the paper & the Demazin (wow, that stuff is good!) & just generally being concerned. AWwww. We had a lovely Xmas day. We weren't actually sure what we were going to be up to on this day due Ali being in hospital but thankfully it all worked out & she was allowed out on a day trip. Catherine & Dylan brought her down that morning to Yeppoon while I was entertaining my simply gorgeous neighbours with coffee & homebaked treats out on the back deck. I love hearing them recount stories from the olden days & of their youth. Then after hustling them out the door it was over to the Gannans & little Ali. Nothing changes in the Gannan household. The irish in them didn't let them down this season & there was some high blood pressure coursing through the veins of these very special people. But all was good & a little time later we were ready to make the journey over the hill to the Hufs who had had much fun fussing with the table setting out by the pool & even very naughtilly buying gifts for us all, of which I thank them most heartily. It was wonderful catching up with Emma & Cab while lazilly lolling around in the pool as some simply divine music that Sam had given Emma for Xmas wafted over the sound system. *note to self....must burn a copy! Late afternoon arrived all too soon & Ali & I needed to depart. Before heading back up to R'ton & her temporary digs we went home & rang Kim at Boyne Island. They were all just returning from the beach where they'd been towing a 'tube' behind the boat. Sounded like lots of fun & maybe something we can look forward to when we go out to Emerald next. Boxing Day was a big day for them packing to go over to NorthWest Island. I bet the voyage would have been a bit rolly & settng up in the rain would have been fun! Poor Kim had to go back to work, one of the hazards of working in the mine business I suppose. Joan had her 70th birthday on Friday. She opted for morning tea with some of her closest friends & family. The gentle rain we'd been having for the past couple days had abated by then & I'm sure she had a simply devine time I'm somewhat disappointed with Ali. I found out on Thursday that she'd lost 300g! I'm told she's around 41.4kg. Anyways I had a growl & told her how disappointed & cross I was with her. I felt the need to bring up year 11 & how this was not working towards her goal of continuing with her schooling. *sigh Time will tell. Anyways her short term goal is to gain enough weight so that she can have day leave again & we can splurge ourselves by going to the movies & catch the new animated movie making headlines at the moment, Happy Feet. Of course our thoughts are with the rest of the family who are enjoying the snow in Andorra.

Alayr
Alayr's back in hospital again. Her weight dropped quite dramatically over the past couple of weeks. This is an expected trend for anorexic people to take...unfortunately they're not cured overnight! This time she (at this stage) she's in for 4 weeks with no leave. She's allowed visitors only. It's a tactic to get them so bored that they work extremely hard to get out of there. Spirit wise, she appears quite well. Odd though how she didn't react too negatively to the idea of not getting out. I expected tears at least! She has however asked for a steak (baked no butter) to be brought up on Saturday when I go to the River Jazz at the Ski Gardens. It's one small step!!! I'll try to remember to add anything here as things come to hand. :)
